Tell us your STEMterprise classroom stories!

Educators are asking to know what’s going on in other classrooms

Many of you have asked how classrooms across Ontario are using our new Ontario Farming STEMterprise program.  We would love to pass on your stories!

Please consider sharing what is going on in your classroom in this open form survey.  We aim to share one classroom story in each newsletter but need your help.  As we say, learning by doing!

So, bring it on and tell us the good, the bad and the yummy! If you can, please send us some pictures that we can include in the article (email it to: web@gfo.ca).

For your effort, we’ll draw one lucky name and email the $250 Amazon gift card on June 30, 2024.  Tell your colleagues!

What is STEMterprise?

It’s a unique curriculum-based program that helps students develop STEM skills and become plant experts and entrepreneurs. They will learn how to grow a grain that will become an ingredient in a food product they design, market, and sell. It’s hands-on, real-life, and meets objectives across Ontario’s curriculum.

The program was piloted in five grade 3 classrooms and we received over 50 educator reviews of the materials. The feedback we got from teachers was exhilarating! They told us they found the program well-organized and structured, with concepts expressed clearly. Teachers found the activities engaging and adaptable to their own classrooms.

Teachers also gave us great suggestions for improving the material, such as simplifying the market research component. We are working on tweaks to the program and will provide updates about STEMterprise in the classroom. In the meantime, Ontario Farming STEMterprise is ready for you! It is easy to use and comes with all the teaching resources you’ll need, including lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, and worksheets. You can also request a virtual visit with a farmer. It’s all available online—just click and go! As always, this resource from Good in Every Grain is FREE!
