Corny bubbles

Girl playing with soap bubbles

For spring, try to make our corny bubbles for a homemade bubble solution that will get the kids outside and enjoying the warm weather! Bonus: make your own bubbles wand using our instructions below!

Yield: 7 cups of homemade bubble solution

Creation time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

For bubble wands:

  • Pipe cleaners
  • Beads

For the bubble solution:

  • 1 cup dish soap (preferably not a dish soap labelled “Ultra”)
  • 6 cups warm water (distilled water is best, but tap will work)
  • ¼ cup corn syrup

Directions:

For bubble wand:

  1. Decide what shape you would like your wand to be: circle, heart, triangle, etc.
  1. Working from the top ¼ on one end of the pipe cleaner make the shape you would like using your fingers. Leave a little extra bit to wrap around the handle of the pipe cleaner to hold the shape.
  1. String beads onto the handle for decoration. Then twist the end of the pipe cleaner to keep the beads from falling off.

For the bubble solution:

  1. In a large container with a lid, mix dish soap and water, until well combined. Try not to let the mixture bubble or foam.
  1. Add corn syrup to soap and water solution and mix well.
  1. Cover the container and let sit overnight for best bubbles or use right away.
  1. Dip your bubble wand into the bubbles and slowly pull it out, wait a second and blow! Let’s see how big of a bubble you can blow!
