Lauren Benoit, 52 weeks of #YOURFARMERS
Meeting people who are incredibly talented & passionate about what they do is one of the many special things about this industry.
Lauren was born and raised on her family’s grain farm just outside of Kirkton, ON. The Benoits grow corn, soybeans, and wheat, and they also have a business applying fertilizer and crop protection products for other farmers. Throughout high school, Lauren was involved in the local 4H dairy club, and she fell in love with all things related to agriculture. She graduated from the University of Guelph with a BSc in Agriculture in 2016, and she started a MSc degree in Plant Agriculture studying weed management in corn. When she isn’t studying, Lauren farms with her Dad, and she has taken on some management responsibility on the farm.
Lauren’s favourite part of the agriculture industry is the people and the technology: “Our farming operations are continuously becoming more efficient, and we’re learning how to collect data and apply it to make management decisions that are better for the environment and our bottom line; however, the people don’t change. Meeting people who are not only incredibly talented but also passionate about what they do is one of the many special things about this industry, and something that hasn’t changed over the years.”
