Kurtis Schill, 52 weeks of #YOURFARMERS
We have 3 generations of educated, passionate farmers working together: my grandpa, my dad, and myself. We’re committed to providing safe, quality food for the world.
Kurtis’ family has been farming since 1852, and today three generations are farming together: his grandfather, his father, and Kurtis. The family farm grows corn, oats, soybeans, wheat, canola, and edible beans.
Kurtis will be graduating this spring with a Diploma in Agriculture from the University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus. Once he has his diploma, he wants to take on a bigger role in the family grain operation, and possibly begin purchasing land and machinery for himself. Kurtis has completed the Growers’ Pesticide and Integrated Pest Management Programs and actively participated in 4H crop clubs, the Corn Share Program, and he was recently nominated to take a seat as a director on the Ontario Canola Growers Association. Kurtis and his dad attend meetings and workshops year-round, set up by machinery dealers, traders, elevators, and commodity associations to maintain their part in sustaining agriculture. Education doesn’t stop in college as the world of agriculture continues to evolve.
