Mother’s Day melted crayon craft

Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and we have the perfect way to show the moms in your life how much you love them! Made using Ontario-grown soybeans, our melted crayon art is a great way to express your creativity and make a great gift.
Fun grain fact: one acre of soybeans can produce about 82,000 crayons!
Supplies needed:
- About 20 crayons, cut into quarters (We used a rainbow of colours; feel free to use the colours you like best)
- One canvas
- Glue (we used hot glue, but white glue would also work)
- Blow dryer
- Paper/cardboard to cover your work surface
- Marker/pen
Instructions:
Step 1: Gather all supplies needed and place the canvas on a flat surface.

Step 2: Arrange crayons in your desired shape and pattern on the canvas and glue them down.
Step 3: Write in your message for that special someone! Check out some of our favourite grain messages below.

Step 4: On your covered work surface, holding the canvas on its side, blow dry the crayons until they start to melt and run down the canvas. (This may be a step that requires adult help). Melt 3-4 crayons at a time, let dry, and move on to the next colour. We recommend starting with the darkest colours first!
Step 5: Let all the melted wax dry, and gift your craft to the lucky recipient!

I can barley contain my excitement today. Happy Mother’s Day!
I wanted to write you a joke for Mother’s Day, but they’re too corny.
It’s oatrageous how much I love you!
I love you soy much!
All you knead is Mom’s love.
