Farmer’s market old fashioned cocktail
This holiday season Cheers to Happy Hour is gifting us a simple trick for enhancing your Canadian corn-based whisky with the use of good ‘ol Canadian whole grain oats to create a new take on an Old Fashioned called the Farmer’s Market.
This is a recipe for adults 19+, please enjoy responsibly.

Prep time: 24 hours
Ingredients:
Oat infused whiskey
- 120g Ontario Oats
- 2 cups Canadian Whisky (I used Sleeman Straight Whisky)
Farmer’s Market
- 2 oz Oat Whisky
- 1 tsp Maple Syrup
- 1 dash Cinnamon Chocolate Bitters
- 4 drops Saline Solution (10%)
- Top with Foam
Foam
- 2.5 oz Oat Whisky
- 2 oz Oat Water
- 0.25 oz Lemon Juice
- 0.25 oz Simple Syrup
- 2 Egg Whites
Directions:
For the oat fnfused whisky:
- Place both ingredients in a mason jar and shake well.
- Let sit for 24 hours, shaking periodically before straining through a coffee filter.
For the foam:
- Add all foam ingredients to an isi. Charge once with an NO2 cartridge, shake, then charge with a second NO2 cartridge and shake again.
- Then place in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
For the farmer’s market cocktail:
- Build a cocktail in a glass with a large cube of ice.
- Stir for 10-15 seconds before topping with Oats Foam.
