National Planting Week: June 4th -10th #BeesMatter

This year, Bees Matter is designating June 4-10 as National Planting Week, a week for Canadians across the country to celebrate honey bees and other pollinators by planting pollinator-friendly gardens!

One out of every three bites of food that we eat is made possible by pollinators like honey bees.

As the growers of most of our food, Canadian farmers know how much we all rely on these pollinators. Statistics Canada data shows the number of beekeepers and honey bee hives in our country is on the rise, but there are still a number of factors contributing to honey bee health issues.

You can take part by signing up for a Buzzing Gardens seed kit, or planting your own selection of wildflowers to provide nutritious nectar and pollen for pollinators.
Remember to take pictures of your garden and share them with the hashtag #PlantforBees, to show the country how you are helping honey bees and other pollinators thrive.
